California...what do you think of when you hear the name? Just a little interesting info on the state, California has the biggest population of all the states in the U.S. and is the third largest state by land area. It was colonized by the Spanish Empire in the 18th century. It became an independent republic in 1821, broke away from Mexico in 1846 following the Mexican-American war...Mexico released California to the U.S. and then became the 31st state on Sept. 9,
